The Guadeloupe Local Education Authority and GBH are committed to working to bring together the worlds of national education and business. On Friday 12 July 2024, the Local Education Authority and GBH signed an agreement to help to get students into work and develop their knowledge of the job market. This partnership is built on joint efforts, which bring together the resources and expertise of both partners.

Christine Gangloff-Ziegler, Head of the Local Education Authority, is personally involved in developing partnerships with the business world. She said: "GBH companies have developed strong partnerships with local-education-authority services as well as with colleges and schools under the umbrella of the Academy of Guadeloupe governmental body. This agreement will provide a framework that will expand the scope of the actions already established and will help to develop new partnerships".

Rodolphe Hayot, GBH Executive Officer, explained: "For many years, we have been determined to help young people to get acquainted with the business world. Together with the Local Education Authority, we are committed to supporting young people in building their career in Guadeloupe. Therefore, we are aiming to raise awareness of our companies and the potential career paths available to them".

The “Prix de l’Entreprise” entrepreneurship awards: Rewarding excellence

-For 8 years, GBH has been a partner of the “Prix de l’Entreprise” entrepreneurship award ceremony organised each year by the Local Education Authority and its partners, which was most recently held on Thursday 11 July 2024.  The best vocational baccalaureate holders who have both academic skills and can handle the demands of the business world won awards.

This year, for the first time, GBH played a bigger role in helping to spotlight excellence in three professional sectors linked to the Group’s activities (mechanics, butchery and sales/commerce), with a “GBH special award”. Yesterday, GBH was able to present these awards to the three winners at the ceremony.

Promoting employment: internships as a career booster

GBH is also committed to promoting taking on interns from Academy schools under an internship agreement established with its subsidiaries in Guadeloupe. Throughout the year, the Local Education Authority informs GBH of internship periods and the Group forwards the available opportunities to the relevant students.

At the Local Education Authority's request, employees from GBH and its subsidiaries provide support to pupils with preparing for recruitment interviews and writing their CV and cover letter.

The partners have also agreed to hold an annual event for pupils, including those in classes préparatoires preparing for competitive university admission exams, which is designed to make them aware of employment opportunities at GBH.

Raising awareness of life within the company: Supporting students and teachers

Working in conjunction with the Local Education Authority and in order to improve understanding of the world of work, GBH and its subsidiaries are making it easier to access and use its technical platforms in Guadeloupe, in order to meet teachers' learning needs and to promote vocational training.

At the Local Education Authority's request, GBH employees sit on exam boards or are involved in assessing professional-sector tests.
