The Adapted Military Service Regiment (RSMA), the Réunion Island Chamber of Trades and GBH are joining forces to launch the “Career Springboard” programme for the motor-vehicle mechanics sector (known as the "Tremplin Pour l'Emploi" locally). The three institutions have just signed an agreement, with all of the partners in attendance, to start the recruitment process. The 15 selected students will be offered a permanent job a GBH subsidiary, once they have successfully completed every stage of the training programme.

The Adapted Military Service Regiment (RSMA) and the Réunion Island Chamber of Trades (CMAR), in partnership with GBH, have announced the launch of the “Career Springboard” programme for the motor-vehicle mechanics sector. This partnership aims to offer real career opportunities to 15 young people who are struggling to find a job and do not have any qualifications, but want to get involved in these growth sectors that are undergoing rapid technological changes.

At the end of this training programme, once they have obtained their vocational qualification, participants will be offered a permanent job within a GBH subsidiary: Speedy, REP, Pneu Pas Cher and Norauto. "Our motor-vehicle subsidiaries are all saying the same thing: There is a mismatch between profiles and needs on the ground. Thanks to the Career Springboard programme, GBH is helping to develop the skills of young people from Réunion Island by responding to a recruitment need for these hard-to-fill positions", explained Pascal Chavignat, GBH HR Director.

Signing this agreement marks the start of the recruitment process for this new version of the Career Springboard programme, with fifteen places open to young people interested in mechanics and motor-vehicle professions. These course participants will have the opportunity to receive comprehensive and intensive training, enabling them to acquire the required skills in order to obtain a motor-vehicle maintenance mechanic vocational qualification (a French "certificat d'aptitude professionnelle" vocational training certificate). The training course will run for 16 months.

Career Springboard programme developed for 2 years in Réunion Island and rolled out in other territories

This upcoming new "Career Springboard" class dovetails into the initiatives previously initiated by GBH.

As a matter of fact, in 2022, GBH successfully launched the sales “Career Springboard” programme, in partnership with the Ecole de la Deuxième Chance (Second Chance School - E2C). This initial experience, which aimed to help young people from Réunion Island into work, was a resounding success. Building on this success, the programme has been rolled out across a number of French overseas territories, thereby meeting the specific employment and vocational-training needs in these regions. The launch of the mechanic and motor-vehicle profession “Career Springboard" programme, in partnership with the Réunion Island Chamber of Trades and the RSMA, marks a new chapter in these social-outreach and employment-support efforts.
