The Réunion Island School of Management and Commerce (EGC Réunion) and GBH celebrated 15 years of successful partnership at a ceremony held on Tuesday 29 October 2024. This event also saw the 150th EGC intern taken on by a GBH subsidiary. In addition to looking back on this partnership, the event gave students and alumni the opportunity to discover the internship and job opportunities offered by GBH, thereby reinforcing the Group’s commitment to training young people from Réunion Island and getting them into work.

The ceremony was an opportunity to celebrate the 150th intern from the EGC Réunion, who was taken on by one of GBH’s subsidiaries. This symbolic figure is testament to the success and longevity of this partnership, which, since 2009, has helped many students from the school to discover the professional world and, for some, to get a job within GBH organisations. It provides a wide range of job and career opportunities in Réunion Island and significantly contributes to local employment and to the island’s economy.

Indeed, in addition to being awarded prizes at graduation ceremonies, 153 ECG students have been taken on for internships and more than 40 graduates have been hired within the Group.

A successful partnership for local training and employment

Since the start of this partnership, the CCI Réunion and GBH have committed to supporting local training and making it easier for young talent from the island to access internships and jobs. In 15 years, many have been hired within different GBH subsidiaries, illustrating both entities' joint desire to contribute to economic growth and employment in Réunion Island.

"Local vocational training is paramount. We are committed to this because many of our team members come from this school. Assisting with training, offering internship sites, and overseeing the different classes also help us to present ourselves as a potential employer for all of these young people in Réunion Island", explained Michel Lapeyre, GBH Indian Ocean and Africa Managing Director.

This ceremony was also an opportunity to meet HR managers of GBH subsidiaries, who set out their current and future recruitment needs. As a result, EGC Réunion students were able to discover the various internship and job opportunities available, with the opportunity to apply directly.

The event was also open to EGC alumni, who were able to explore available positions at partner companies. "As an EGC student, a number of GBH subsidiaries come to you in order to present their available vacancies. It’s an opportunity to meet all of these employers in one go", said Ludovic Clain, a young EGC graduate, who has already signed a contract and has joined the Renault team in Saint-Paul as a result. The CCI Réunion and GBH reaffirm their desire to continuing this partnership, which aims to continue working to promote local training and employment for young people from Réunion Island.

Together, they are committed to responding to current economic challenges while offering young graduates long-term and rewarding career prospects.
